Jul 20, 2017 - I agree, be it my iPhone, iPad or iMac: as long as it's running good it's OK with me. I kinda lost interest in what CPU's are in my devices.

Once you have passed the moderation period (think of it as a test), you will be able to post normally, just like all the other retards. Btw i made up the Year for Mordor 2: Darkness Awakening based on reading through david allen's entire life-history posts on his website and his saying that it's a preamble/beta for the main Demise game(s) so i guesstimated the year; i.e. One year before Demise Ascension. I figured it looked better than putting (???? I literally challenge anyone reading this to find the year for mordor 2 by googling. Fuck i even downloaded the game's beta and tried to see if the executable had the modification date but no dice. I appreciate it.

Still, you think it should stay? It is its own game after all even if it's just a beta version of demise? Or should i delete it? You're right about the interface btw, and i haven't even played all of them. Just from the time i spent looking at mordor and demise pictures it is obvious to anyone who is experienced with crawlers that the cascading window layout of mordor is much more efficient. It's basically the same as the original wizardry layout.

You know, the PC windows port of age of llylgamyn collection (wiz 1-3 redone by jappos) they did it in cascading/tiled windows style completely different from the ps1/saturn/snes versions. One window for the dungeon view, one window for the party and another window for battles. It's perfect. All the rest of the shit laid out like Icons as if it was a desktop. Question: is mordor true turn-based or does it use the hybrid system demise does? It's up to you, but I'd rather keep it so people can try a superior version.

The only reason why I dislike Demise is because of the interface. It's inefficient, and in Mordor I spent more time looking at the map rather than the dungeon window (because it's useless). Mordor 2 at least offered some eye candy. IIRC Windows ports of Llylgamyn Saga are bugged, but I'm not sure. Mordor uses the same hybrid system, every turn takes about 2 seconds, but IIRC it depends on the number of enemies and the performance of your PC. I actually like this system, since the game is basically a hack'n'slash game for monocled crowd. Some valiant heroes i think from tokugawa forums put out a beta patch for the windows port of llylgamyn saga that translates the 10% of the moon runes that weren't already in english by default and fixes most of the corruption bugs.

But i haven't tested it myself so i'm just passing along what i read. I've been wanting to play thru wiz 4 for real, beginning to end, and i think i'll do it with the new age of llygamyn pc windows port + fan patch. The high resolution font alone is worth choosing it over the ps1/saturn remakes (classic version of course; not counting the arranged scenario that's in jap-only). Compare and be amazed! Guess which is which. You are doing amazing work here, and in the other compilation threads. I don't know how you have time for all this - but I really appreciate it!

I'm working on a dungeon crawler of my own and this is great for research, and finding out other games to try. I noticed that the Oubliette listing is a bit inaccurate though. The screenshot you have there is from, I believe. The original (PLATO version) of Oubliette looks more like this: I found these screens on this Oubliette fan page: Also according to that page, the original PLATO version came out in 1977. Another PLATO game probably worth mentioning is Avatar, which was a direct influence on Mordor and Demise. Here's CRPGAddict's blog about that one. Fantastic shit mate, thanks!

I'll update it soon. And also thanks for mentioning this Orthanc game as well;another one for the list. Man, doing these compilation threads i have found the weirdest collections of blogs and fan sites i ever imagined. Just earlier today i found a private torrent site that ONLY hosts trackers with translated roms + their patches.

Actually i should go post that site right now in the translation thread. They have literally every single rom that's ever been translated archived. I think the site was called 'underground gamer torrents: japanese to english translations'. 'Bee said we can't openly post torrents anymore (we could in the past) so i'll just copy/paste the LIST of the games and not the links. Check this madness out, and this is just like 1 of their 20 'sets'.

Click to expand.actually this issomething i thought about doing fromthe beginning man, but i made a list of pros and cons and evaluated and decided the most sensible solution would be to provide 1, or actually 2 now (or more if it'smerited) WIKIA-websites with each game. 1) while i certainly CAN write a lil sumthin sumthin about each game the fact is i haven't played most of them and that means i would cobble brief pieces of descriptive text from outside sources (i.e. Wikias, crpg addict, etc). 2) i could never resist interjecting my own personal opinionson the games i HAVE played and i'm not looking to write reviews here; codexers don't even like reading codexer's own codex reviews. We all know as codexers the only review that is valid is the one we think of when we play a game personally. 3) so logically easiest thing is to link to at least 2 wikias: 1 fan-wiki site, and (hopefully) a second link going to the game's wikipedia entry.

That's the goal. That way ppl can read and inform themselves plus it frees up more space. I don't like how spoiler tags look visually and having oneunder every game hiding the descriptive paragraph would kill my eyes. I did think of that, but well. Let's be honest here: where the fuck else are we going to link someone to a competent and (in my opinion p. Much always) NEUTRAL analysis-cum-let's-play of games like fucking. AVATAR - oubliette - sword of glass - dark heart of uukrul (yes, i know that one is not THAAT obscure but still, his play-review of it is leaps and bounds better than anything else on the game you'll find thru google) - etc, etc.

The only real problem i see is the one you point out of the big missing No-Review-Entry on all of the post 1990's games. So, um, all of 'em basically.

What i'm thinking is i'll just try to google as many different wiki/fan-sites as possible and list them as the last game details. I hereby do merely wish to report that GODDAMN devil whiskey is a good game. Well, it would be i mean if it didn't have the worst UI ever designed by a homo sapien.

It's quite an honorable testament to the strengths of the game itself and it's awesome exploration and combat system that i actually gritted my teeth and used the game's retarded hotkeys. Game's hard as fuck too. Yeah yeah i know, hear me out: like ANY other good party-based turn-based 'crawler even with basic equipment your first random encounter WILL result in a party wipe ifyou play on auto-pilot. To me that means the has a good level of difficulty, not that it is 'difficult'. Anyway i've barely explored the outskirts of the starter town and i've already sadly lost 2 felllow comrades in arms: sonia the red haired bard who died tragically because i didn't know that when you ad(V)ance towards the enemy they get a free round on you; and kramer the valiant barbarian whose -1 AC loincloth was only able to conceal his erection in death due to the barrage of Tiltowait-like stones flung at me from random, identical-twin surly middle-aged villages who take off half my level 1 char's health with 1 punch. I'm gonna have to do a real serious autohotkey script and fucking remap EVERYTHING before i can play DW for real though.

I mean if i can't even use WASD. If it were just a bit less good of a game that alone would be a deal-breaker. But remapping to wasd is easy with autohotkey, it's the rest of the million other keys. Thanks for the recommendation.

Btw, just to continue telling anyone who'll listen about how awesomeAutoHotkey program is: i can for example with remap 'C' to be the cancel key, which is ESC in devil whiskey (without disabling ESC, you can mirror the key); now if the C key already has a function then one first remaps that function to another key, let's say 'Z' for an example, and then mirror the ESC function over to the C key. Has to be scripted in that logical sequence obviously otherwise you get a loop. You can also simply ADD functions to keys without disabling them or remapping them to another key beforehand: if you want to forexample one could make an AHK script that remaps 'Q' and 'E', each of the two letters to cycle through F1 thru F8 with each press. You press Q one time it's same as pressing f1, then press it again, it's same as pressing f2.

Then with E you script it to cycle in reverse, first press is f8, etc. Or you can simply script a SHIFT/ALT/CONTROL key and make a combination function if you want. Shift + E = normal function (equip item), but then script control + E under those lines to turn the E key into U when you do control + E. That way you can Equip and Unequip gear in devil whiskey without having to travel from the left of the keyboard all the way to the right of the keyboard every time you're accessorizing. There's almost certainly much more efficient examples than the ones i gave i only know the barest of the basics, the basic commands that are in the website.

You can actually make AHK scripts that lperform up to 50 functions, complex functions, on 1 single key press as an example. Heh, i did that last night.

I drank a few too much and i suddenly decided it would be the best idea in the world to clutter the wizardry thread with a shit load of stuff non-game related but related to sir-tech or to wizardry. I removed all the funny stuff today and am adding back in the old pictures + new ones i found (wanna make it so that each game has EXACTLY 4 pictures in the quote bar, so that requires resizing all 4 pics to specific dimensions it is tedious); also added two wiki links for each core wiz game (1-8): 1) obviously the wikipedia entry of the game, and 2) the wizardry.wikia link.

Thankfully it wasn't until wiz 6 that they bothered making a soundtrack for their games so that part's all good. I also found SEVERAL, and imean SEVERAL apple ii and abandonware-type sites with scans of every single wiz 1-8 instruction manual + strategy guide. For those who missed the images here are the more amusing ones: (apologies, i accidentally erased the full sized picture.

This mangled mess used to be a 1980x resolution scan of the vision document / game bible for wiz 1 and these two pages in particular detailed the priest spells and the meaning of the hebrew words behind the incantations) - (no worries of course; the original high-def full-size image is in the same archival website where i stole it from yesterday for those wanna google the pdf) (exact same story again here in regards to the garbled sizing and missing the original huge image. Google it if you want; it is a scan of an article done about sir-tech in the late 80's when they were blowing up. Nothing mind-blowing). (oh man i fucking looooooved this one when i found it. It's softline's official wizardry promotional poster.

Softline was the sub-contracted customer support department of sir-tech. That poster is GOLD.) (a most probably fake scan of the wizardry vision document that d.w. Cocksucker-bradley wrote and presented to get the job making wiz 6). For those who might not have noticed his name appears in completion 4 times in the front page. (sir-tech bundled these cards inside the game boxes back in the day.

They would also include similar cheat-sheets with the spells). They would also bundle AWESOME MOTHERFUCKING RAD SHIT LIKE THE FOLLOWING: they actually fucking dared you to beat the game from the moment you unboxed it haha. Remember kids, this is the honor system and ONLY the Elite may use the Werdna Defeat card to get their just rewards! (this thing apparently sells for shit loads of money on ebay, as well as the fake MORDOR credit card bundled with wiz 4 as well) i realized today this stuff is amusing, and interesting, but all it does is clutter the thread. Unrelated bonus. Oh, btw, i actually tried DW today.

Siveon recommended it to me. So far my initial reaction is: I like it. Buuuuut i hate the awful, awful keyboard hotkeys / interface / etc. I'm currently doing an autohotkey script to remap everything so i can use WASD, strafe, use combinations to equip/unequip inside the inventory (i.e. Instead of E for equip and U for unequip make a line of code that makes holding down left-control and pressing E un-equips, and no-shift regular E press equips asnormal). Once i finish the script i'll make a second party and motherfucking rape every single surly middle-aged farmer in that goddam village!

It requires a 64-bit capable Intel-based Mac and at least macOS 10.13 (High Sierra). I don't know about you, but I use my computer in only one (human) language — English. And I'm willing to bet that you do too, albeit perhaps not English. So why do you have a bunch of localization files for the operating system filling up your hard drive?
